"The trees that are growing are tomorrow's forest."Zambia
"The following day begins with a lot of hope." Uganda, Congo
As these 7 days of the period of Kwanzaa come to rest once more, for another year, remember that it is in the living them daily that we fully achieve the whole of the love that we have been missing for far too long. Some will say that Kwanzaa is not necessary to accomplish the unity of Africans in the West but any unity of spirit and principle is a good thing. After all, when you really look into the 7 principles, you'll see that we have had them with us all along. They have been forever encoded in our DNA from such time.
It is the unity of family; it is the self-determination to cut lawns and style hair from your own house; it is the collective work when a friend needs a hand tiling a new roof or fixing her car; it is the cooperative economics of rent parties and a Friday fish fry; it is the purpose in reminding our children that they are born of a Nation of warriors who survived a satanic holocaust to rise and create another shining African nation above all others; it is the creativity of song and expressions of love; it is the ever enduring faith that within our lifetime, with our own hands, we will the world to right herself and the faith that those who suffer without end shall have their justice.
This, Kwanzaa, is not about replacing Xmas with an African holiday. It is about restoring our Nation to the whole that was taken from us through the satanic instruments of the holocausts of bondage, colonialism and imperialism. A blight brought upon OUR Nation unlike any other seen amongst men. I pray thee a safe and blessed year as always for time is never new, how we approach it is. That we may reveal to the wind and trees our deepest earthbound desires and most treasured and guarded divine needs. That we may call for love to cling to us like the way we hope the smell of our newborn children will never cease or fade. That we might beseech the sages and Elders for knowledge, wisdom and understanding, not only for us in the now, but for our children and our children's children children.
I would also pray that amongst Our Nation, parents can learn to get along better. Single and married alike. And for all those who have already wonderful, blessed relationships, do please show us who have seemed to lose sight of how to achieve such perfection an insight into the kind of humility, patience, and courage that enduring love actually requires. If I can so freely admit, I too need some of that clearance, no matter how much I know I have grown within myself over these many years. To that end, I have made strides in rectifying my own faults within my parenthood relationship. May they gain strength, traction and momentum in the year and years to come. And please for the sake of all parties involved, let us learn to resolve our issues outside of their court systems. We have within us the structures of ancient systems of justice and remediation that we only need tap into more often. They have never fully understood us and it is then only fitting that their laws never will.
May that we all remember that we have always seen each child as our own and fail not to show that love to the generations coming up behind us. It is difficult at times, no doubt. But if we are to ever survive the onslaught to come, believe me the fight is only now about to get hot, they must know truly how we love them. I remember the Elders used to say they would beat us because they loved us. That the correction was a way of demonstrating great love. Let us also remember to love them because we love them. That correction is what we all need.
There is so much more to say and if I hadn't just reached in from working through the change of Western calendar, I might keep on keeping on. That said, I know within myself there is still much to accomplish and aspire towards. In terms of self; in terms of family; in terms of Nation. I can be even further honest in saying that as a single man these are tasks that I have for far too long been too prideful to ask for assistance. But I am calling on Her, Love, to answer all prayers and reveal Herself to me one last time. There is too much Father in me to retire this temple to the life of solitude and solemnity that I have set myself on. I am willing Her to me, if she would have me. Not out of the fear of being alone, but out of the power of Love's faith, foresight, and gratitude for radiating Her light into my life.
I LOVE YOU FAMILY. GOD is and has always been love, so let us learn to love in that perfection.
