The New New World Order and OCCUPY EARTH

“The world is so empty if one thinks only of mountains, rivers and cities; but to know someone here and there who thinks and feels with us, and though distant, is close to us in spirit - this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden”

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I am not going to mince words here: the very reason I am a proponent of the capitalism that has taken a strong foothold in the west, is because I firmly believe it to be the west's ultimate downfall.  A bit strong?  Maybe.  But taken in context to the type of individual who, while being born into this system, which may also be born of an innate greed and selfishness, you can almost distinctly make out why the West has begun its downward spiral in the last 50 years.  I'm sure my parents had little idea of the "real world" that they bore me and my siblings into.  Similarly, I wasn't as astute when my own children were born, beginning some 15 years ago.

Volunteering: A Spiritual Salve

“Volunteer—not so you can build your resume, but so you can build yourself.”

 Unknown

I started volunteering down here in South Florida a couple of years ago, after an extremely long hiatus from community service.  My first spat at service began probably around the age of 8 or 9 when my dad would take my brother and me down to the convalescent home where my mother worked, close to the end of her shift.  The "service" generally consisted of speaking with and spending time with the elderly patients, shedding just a bit of youthful energy on them and bringing smiles to their faces.

African Solutions In Kenya and The Horn

“I dream of giving birth to a child who will ask, "Mother, what was war?"

Eve Merriam

It's hard for me to sit by and not comment on what's going on in the Horn of Africa these days.  I had previously written about the crisis of famine and drought and what I thought and hoped could be done.  I will still argue that while I feel the African Union (AU) leadership dilly dallies mediating issues on the ground using what appears to be excessive European and Western mitigation devices, there are many Africans in the West, throughout the Diaspora, who are all too willing to give the strength of our lower backs and full spirits to the just cause of peace and freedom.

Disappointed in My Muslim Brothers

“Murder is not the crime of criminals, but that of law-abiding citizens.”

Emmanuel Teney

Won't stay long on this topic, but just had a quick point to make.  I have been watching the Islamic treatment, or serious lack thereof, of Colonel Qaddafi's body after what appears to me, and plenty other peoples, as an apparent execution at the hands of the unknown.  Well, I personally feel as though the National Transitional Council (NTC), is fully complicit to no end, and by extension NATO and the other parent bodies of the mission against the sovereign Libya.

Grease Fire or Greece Ire

“I hate to be a kicker, I always long for peace, but the wheel that does the squeaking is the one that gets the grease”

Josh Billings

“We provide the grease that turns the wheels of capitalism,...”

Robert Bright

Riots in the streets; fires and explosions.  Throngs of disenchanted pedestrians.  No this is not Egypt, Libya or Syria awakening to life during the Arab Spring.  It is southern Europe;  Greece to be more specific.  Yet the spark of the rage visible on the street is emblematic of a much bigger problem, much like throughout North Africa and Western Asia earlier this year.  In fact this problem isn't even just isolated to the Mediterranean region as evident by the whole "Occupy" movement that has taken hold here in the States and much throughout the Western Hemisphere.  What then?

And these are the "People" America and NATO were in such a RUSH to move into power?

I'm beginning to wonder if "HUMAN RIGHTS" grievances are about the humans' rights, or the having the "Right Humans" in your corner.  Brother Leader detailed these concerns about how the "Arab African" viewed and oft times still does view the African Man and Woman.  The stories have come out several times that the then rebel forces, now the National Transitional Council (NTC), were violating the human rights of Africans they accused of being Qaddafi supporters.  While "Arab" and Berber supporters are checked for signs of fighting, Africans, regardless of whether they were fighting or not, seem to be first thrown in jail, tortured and then not attended to medically.

UK threatens to cut aid to Ghana if country continues to maltreat homosexuals

People are entitled to their belief systems and lifestyle choices. But stay out of a sovereign countries politics and social fabric in doing so, if especially if, your tendencies are not suited to or wanted by that nation and her People.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs leaves behind a legacy

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
